Dahlia A. Walker-Huntington is Of Counsel to the firm in the areas of Immigration and Family Law. She is also a certified Family Law and County Court Mediator, a Certified Arbitrator, and a Special Magistrate for the City of Miramar and the Broward County Animal Court. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Ms. Walker-Huntington attended Holy Rosary Preparatory School and Convent of Mercy Academy "Alpha" in Kingston, Jamaica. A graduate of Miami Dade College, with highest honors, she continued to be honored by the college by being named an Outstanding Alumni in 2001 and 2007. She went on to become an Adjunct Professor of Political Science at the College and served as an advisory board member to the Miami-Dade College Paralegal program. Ms. Walker-Huntington earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Florida International University and her Juris Doctor degree from University of Miami School of Law, where she was a Dean's honor scholar and received numerous other honors while a law student. She is a past president of the Association of Caribbean Law Students (1996-1997). Ms. Walker-Huntington was a Black History Month Honoree in 2002 of The Herald and a Women’s Month Honoree by MYSTIK 1580 AM in March, 2003. The Florida Association of Women Lawyers, Miami-Dade Chapter, honored Walker-Huntington as a Woman Inspiring Hope and Possibility in March, 2004. She is a past president of the Caribbean Bar Association and was the first female president of the association. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association; The Jamaica-USA Chamber of Commerce; Alpha Academy Alumnae Association; and Friends of the Good Shepherd - MoBay, Inc. She is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Council of Bar Association Presidents. Ms. Walker-Huntington is active in the community and is frequently called upon to participate in community forums throughout the State of Florida and in Jamaica to speak on the issues of migration, immigration, citizenship, Diaspora affairs and economic development. From 2004 to 2006 Walker-Huntington served as an elected advisor to the Jamaican Government and on the Jamaican Diaspora Advisory Board representing the Southern United States. During this period, she planned numerous events designed to mobilize the Jamaican community in the Diaspora by hosting lectures, symposiums, and cultural events and organized missions to the needy in Jamaica. Ms. Walker-Huntington hosts "Your Legal Corner" on Thursday mornings, 8:40 a.m. EST on Power106FM in Kingston, Jamaica. "Your Legal Corner" is heard worldwide on www.go-jamaica.com, and is part of the Independent Talk segment with its host Ronald "Ronnie" Thwaites, Esq. This show connects people all over the world who have questions on U.S. immigration law, and after two years, was rated the number one hour on talk radio in Jamaica (February, 2008). She can also be heard on "Your Legal Corner" on Friday evenings at 8:10p.m. DST on WAVS 1170AM in Davie, Florida, and on the Internet at www.wavs1170am.com.
